"ROKPA" is the Tibetan word meaning "to help" or "to serve". ROKPA INTERNATIONAL is a charity that was founded in 1980 by its President, Dr. Akong Tulku Rinpoche, a Tibetan doctor and meditation master. ROKPA CANADA seeks to provide assistance that gives people the skills and material support required for them to become more self-sufficient - particularly in the areas of basic education, further education, health care, relief from hunger, poverty and suffering, and preservation of culture and environment.
